The Jewels of the Andaman

The Similan Islands lie about 40km west of the Thai mainland in the Andaman Sea. They are renowned the world over for their stunning beaches and superb diving. I was lucky enough to visit for a few days in April 2010.

Life on a Desert Island

From a distance Aride Island in the Seychelles belies its status as a pristine wilderness and wildlife sanctuary looking like a lonely speck of land in the vast emptiness of the Indian Ocean. Habitat for an abundance of life including over a million seabirds and some rare endemic species, Aride is one of the few unspoiled islands left in the world.

A Tale of 3 Mountains

During the onset of the harsh southern winter of 2006 my partner and I spent 2 months working as wardens in the Tongariro National Park in New Zealand. Based mostly in remote mountain cabins we had excellent opportunities to explore the stunning landscapes and learn about it's cultural and natural history.
